Suggested Unit Closing Procedures

1. Be sure the office has the correct key to your unit. If you leave a car here, leave your key also as certain projects require the parking space to be cleared.

2. Notify Office that you are leaving so your mailing address of record can be noted if a mailing is done

3. Call for Air Conditioner System Check & Regular Service Call

4. Set thermostat at 80 degrees (set fan to Auto - A/C to cool) and set humidistat at 60 percent. Be certain that circuit breaker to Air Conditioner is ON. Put in new batteries in the thermostat.

5. Close and Lock all Hurricane Shutters. (This is not the responsibility of Deep Creek Gardens.)

6. Call to put Comcast Cable TV service on "Vacation Mode" Telephone (941) 625-6000

7. Call to put Phone Service on "Vacation Mode"

8. Cancel Paper Delivery

9. Change Mailing address -  forward mail.

10. Clean refrigerator, stove and bathrooms. Wash floors and shower curtains.

11. Unplug major appliances in all outlets to prevent lightning surge damage. You may opt to turn off all electrical outlets, EXCEPT the two Air Conditioner circuit breakers. All Circuits should be labeled in circuit box. It is important to keep A/C on to prevent mold growth.

12. Empty and clean refrigerator - turn off and leave door open. Place a box of baking soda inside. Discard all unused food in cupboards & leave doors slightly open. Empty all trash containers.

13. Pour 1 - 2 quarts of Distilled water in bottom of dishwasher, prop door open a bit.

14.  Use about 3 drops of vegetable oil in garbage disposal. Turn it on for a moment. Oil will prevent the interior from rusting.

15. Turn water supply off using shut off valve outside your building. Shut off water to water heater.

16. Leave closet doors open, leave all drawers in bedroom slightly open.

17. Pour 1/4 cup of bleach in toilet bowls and cover with plastic wrap.

18. Bring in bicycles into your unit. Do not leave them in racks all summer.

19. Bring in any chairs and door mats, rugs and flowerpots from outside.

20. Complete Owner information form.

These are suggested procedures and following these few precautions will prevent problems. 

It is recommended that you have someone check your unit periodically.
